Jessica graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom, in 2017 and was subsequently called to the English Bar as a member of Middle Temple in July 2018. She chambered with MKP and was called to the Malaysian Bar in December 2019.
Jessica has been a member of the Corporate and M&A Department of the firm since the commencement of her legal career. During her time with MKP, she has taken conduct of a broad range of mergers & acquisition exercises and capital markets matters, including joint venture transactions and corporate and commercial advisory matters and various forms of fund raising exercises.
Some of the recent transactions that she has worked are the RM6.8 billion acquisition by AirAsia X Berhad of the aviation business of Capital A Berhad (comprising AirAsia Bhd (which owns the Malaysian aviation operations) and AirAsia Aviation Group Ltd (which manages the Indonesian, Thai, Philippine and Cambodian operations)), the group reorganisation exercise of Sime Darby Property Berhad, the acquisition by Sunway Iskandar Sdn Bhd of the 70% equity interest held by Daiwa House Malaysia in Daiwa Sunway Development Sdn Bhd and the acquisition by Greenyield Berhad of a 65% stake in Greenyield Rubber Holdings (M) Ltd, which owns over 15,000 hectares of rubber and coconut plantation lands in Papua New Guinea.
Jessica has also advised on several public take-over and general offer exercises, including the mandatory takeover offer (MTO) of Milux Corporation Berhad, the MTO of Pan Malaysia Holdings Berhad and the MTO of Apollo Food Holdings Berhad by Scoop Capital Sdn. Bhd., whose subsidiary is the Malaysian franchisee of Baskin-Robbins.
