MUAR RESIDENT PARTNER

Kai Rou graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree in 2014 from the University of West of England, United Kingdom and obtained the Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP) in 2015. She chambered with MKP and was called to the Malaysian Bar in November 2016. She then joined the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Department of the firm to commence her legal career.

During her time in legal practice, Kai Rou has been involved in handling matters in the areas of contractual and commercial disputes, debt recovery matters, banking, arbitration and appellate litigation. She has also advised on restructuring matters involving capital reductions as well as property and real estate litigation dispute matters. Her experience extends to all levels of the Malaysian Court hierarchy. She has appeared in the Court of Appeal and assisted senior counsels in Federal Court matters.

Kai Rou was admitted as a Resident Partner of the firm to lead our Muar office on 1 August 2023. In her role as the Resident Partner of our Muar office, apart from handling contractual and commercial disputes, debt recovery matters and arbitration and appellate litigation as an extension of her diverse and robust commercial disputes practice, she now also more broadly advises on commercial transactions, real estate and banking and finance matters as well as wills and administration of estates.

Kai Rou, who was born and raised in Muar, has deep roots in the Muar community and presently acts as a legal adviser of the Muar Hakka Family Association as well as a legal adviser of the Woon Clan Association.
