Announcement

The firm is pleased to announce the elevation of Alvin Wong Juin Wee, Jackleen Wong Shi Hui, Ng Sock Ling, Pang Jia Ling and Tan Eng Keat as Senior Associates of the firm with effect from 1 February 2017.

 
       
  1. Alvin Wong Juin Wee  
   

Alvin Wong obtained a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from University of Essex in year 2009 and also holds a Master in Laws degree in International Commercial Law from the University of Nottingham, which he obtained in 2010.  He chambered with MKP and was admitted to the Malaysian Bar on 10 September 2012.

Alvin has been with our Corporate, Property & Banking Dept. handling M&A, capital markets and real estate matters since being called to the Malaysian Bar.

 
       
  2. Jackleen Wong Shi Hui  
   

Jackleen obtained a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree from Oxford Brookes University in 2007.

She chambered under Datuk Wong Kian Kheong of Messrs Wong Kian Kheong and was admitted to the Malaysian Bar on 11 November 2011.  She was retained as an Associate of Messrs Wong Kian Kheong where she handled litigation cases, include both criminal and civil matters.  Thereafter, she joined another legal firm in Klang Valley in April 2012 where she handled corporate exercises and real property transactions.

Jackleen joined MKP in March 2014 and has been handling M&A, capital markets and real estate matters since joining the firm.

 
       
  3. Pang Jia Ling  
   

Jia Ling obtained a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree from Multimedia University in 2009.

She chambered with the firm of Sidek Teoh Wong & Dennis, where she mainly handled general litigation and banking litigation matters, and was admitted to the Malaysian Bar on 25 June 2010.  She was retained in the conveyancing department of Sidek Teoh Wong & Dennis, where she handled property and banking matters until June 2011, when she joined the firm of Naqiz & Partners in July 2011.  At Naqiz & Partners, she had conduct of M&A matters as well as some property matters and review of banking instruments.

Jia Ling joined MKP in April 2013 and has been handling M&A, capital markets and real estate matters since joining the firm.

 
       
  4. Ng Sock Ling  
   

Sock Ling obtained a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree from University Malaya in 2007.

After completing her university degree, Sock Ling returned to her home town of Muar, Johor, and chambered at the firm of Messrs S.E. Wong & Co., where she mainly handled general litigation matters.  She was called to the Malaysian Bar on 23 May 2008.

In her first couple of years of practice, she practiced as a legal assistant with the Muar firm of Philip Chua & Co, where she handled conveyancing and banking litigation matters.  Thereafter, she joined the Muar firm of T.Y. Lim & Co where she was attached as a legal assistant until January 2013.

Sock Ling moved to KL and joined MKP in April 2013 and has been handling property and banking matters (including corporate real estate and real estate project matters) since joining the firm.

Tan Eng Keat
 
   

Tan Eng Keat obtained a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree from Multimedia University in October 2010.

Thereafter, he commenced pupilage under Mr. Kumar Kanagasingam of Messrs Lee Hishammuddin Allen Gledhill, where he handled general litigation matters with an emphasis on corporate disputes, and was called to the Malaysian Bar on 2 December 2011.

Eng Keat joined MKP in February 2012 after his chambering and has been handling litigation matters under Mr. Yap Boon Hau since joining the firm.

 
       
 

The elevation of these Senior Associates reflects the commitment on the part of the partners of the firm to build up the depth and breadth of capabilities of the firm’s Corporate, Property & Banking Department and a recognition of Alvin’s, Jackleen’s, Sock Ling’s, Jia Ling’s and Eng Keat’s efforts during their time with the firm.  The partners are pleased to note that all of them have been with MKP for at least 3 years and each of them have grown in stature and skillsets through working with the firm.  In turn, their hard work and dedication has contributed greatly to the firm’s growth in its corporate and M&A, capital markets, property and banking and litigation practices over the past few years.

Today, Legal500 recognises the Firm as a Tier 2 firm in Corporate and M&A work, alongside much larger firms in the Malaysian legal market (see http://www.legal500.com/c/malaysia/corporate-and-manda) – this market recognition is testament of the strong team of experienced and dedicated professionals that the firm has as well as the high profile and market-leading transactions that the firm advises on.
