Jia Ling obtained a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree from Multimedia University in 2009.
She chambered with the firm of Sidek Teoh Wong & Dennis, where she mainly handled general litigation and banking litigation matters, and was admitted to the Malaysian Bar on 25 June 2010. She was then retained in the conveyancing department of Sidek Teoh Wong & Dennis, where she handled property and banking matters until June 2011, when she joined the firm of Naqiz & Partners in July 2011. At Naqiz & Partners, she took conduct of mergers & acquisitions (M&A) matters as well as property matters and review of banking documentation.
Jia Ling joined MKP as an Associate in April 2013 and has been handling M&A, capital markets and real estate matters since joining the firm. She was promoted to the position of Senior Associate on 1 February 2017.
Notable recent transactions that Jia Ling has handled include the listings of Senheng New Retail Berhad and Powerwell Holdings Berhad on the Main Market and ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia respectively and the corporate regularisation plan undertaken by Comintel Corporation Berhad.
